Alcove Addiction Recovery Centre for Women, established in 1972, is a non-denominational charity located in Calgary, Alberta. It offers a 12-week, highly structured residential treatment program tailored for women dealing with addiction, abuse, and mental health challenges. The program is trauma-informed and gender-responsive, providing a safe, home-like environment. Professional onsite counselors deliver a core curriculum that includes psychoeducation, life and employment skills training, participation in mutual aid supports, and recreational activities. Alcove uniquely accommodates pregnant women and mothers with children under six, allowing families to remain together during the recovery process. Additionally, Alcove provides a free online program supporting women awaiting admission, transitioning back into the community, or seeking to deepen their recovery practice.
