Shelter House Thunder Bay, located at 420 George Street, is a low-barrier shelter dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty. Their services include an emergency overnight shelter operating 24/7 with a capacity for up to 62 individuals, providing segregated dorms for men, women, and youth aged 16 to 25. The Meal Program offers three hot meals daily to clients, with lunch and dinner available to community members in need, alongside 24-hour access to snacks and sandwiches. Additionally, the Kwae Kii Win Managed Alcohol Program delivers stable, supportive housing for 15 individuals dealing with chronic alcoholism and homelessness. Shelter House emphasizes the inherent dignity and potential within every individual, striving to create a compassionate community through immediate relief services and addressing the root causes of homelessness.
